I made my own VGA to arcade monitor cable, so the only part I had to obtain for the video portion of the project was a new monitor:

I ordered directly from the manufacturer through a sales contact on their website. I opted to purchase a refurbished monitor to save money. The warranty is shorter, but it is factory certified and actually brand new. The image is fantastic and I appreciate that the physical controls are all mounted on a little board that extends a few feet from the monitor on a ribbon cable. This allows you to make adjustments while looking at the front of the monitor rather than running back and forth as was required by the older generation of arcade displays.
The link in the table above takes you to a page that includes a PDF specifications sheet. In a nuthshell, though, this monitor handles TTL-level signals from a VGA card nicely, is 15.75 kHz and has a refresh range of 47 - 63 Hz.
A universal mount monitor can be mounted either horizontally or vertically. You can save money if you purchase one for a specific orientation, but I felt this approach gave me greater flexibility if my configuration ever changes.
The power for the monitor is straightforward A/C and does not require an isolation transformer like the older generations.
All in all, this is a very good product. It's also the first new monitor I've ever purchased after owning around 30 classic arcades at one point or another. The difference is dramatic.
